Access to HEI Diploma in Health and Social Care (EQF)

Who study this qualification:

​If you want to access higher education in medicine or a career in healthcare, but lack the formal A-level qualifications to do so, then this Access to HE Diploma is the perfect course for you. This diploma is the first step to your career in medicine or other healthcare professions, as it prepares you to go to university and qualify, without having to go back to college.

Access to Higher Education Diplomas are widely-respected alternatives to traditional college qualifications. Therefore, they are the perfect option if you have been out of education for a long time, or if you do not meet the A-level entry requirements for higher education.

To ensure you are ready for the challenges of university study, this Access to Higher Education Diploma (Medicine and Health Care Professions) provides the perfect balance between skill development and academic study. With modules that teach you writing and research skills, as well as specific units on medicine, biology, chemistry and physics, this science-oriented diploma will get you ready for any healthcare degree.

Although most universities accept Access to HE Diplomas, it is recommended that you check you meet the entry criteria of the institution you wish to attend before you apply. University admission policies differ so it is worth making sure you have the right Access to Higher Education Diploma (Medicine and Health Care Professions) for your particular needs.
       The Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration provides its learners with realistic and appropriate career related guidance for the 21st Century markets. Best of all, the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration creates an opportunity for learners to complete their MBA degree from any recognised university at an advanced level.

Admission Criteria

Learners will need to be over the age of 19, and must demonstrate one of the following:

GCSE Grade C or above in English Language or First Language  

OR
Functional Skills L2 
AND
 Maths or Numeracy at Level 2

Note: Applications from candidates who possess the English Language qualification but not the Maths may still be considered for a place on the programme. In these circumstances applicants will be required to complete an initial assessment test, and commit towards completing a GCSE or Functional Skills Level 2 Maths qualification alongside this qualification. 

​What units are covered

Access to HEI Diploma in Health and Social Care focuses on 5 core areas - Academic Skills, Health studies, Human development, Biology, Psychology.
​It consists of 5 mandatory units, each containing 20 credits and 2 optional units, each containing 10 credits to be delivered generally over 1 academic year.

How it is delivered

The programme will typically be delivered as a 1 year full time study or a total of 42 weeks (including assignment submission weeks). An academic year is divided into six learning blocks with 7 weeks duration each. There will be three (3) contact days per week or a total of twenty one (21) contact hours per week; and thirteen (13) hours of self‐directed learning per week.

How it is assessed

All units will be internally assessed by the delivering institute. Learner will need to show that they meet each of the assessment criteria detailed within each unit, to the required standard for the level of the unit.

Certificates are awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade following assessment of the candidate’s portfolio of work. A assessor will examine the evidence and make a decision which is checked by the internal followed by the external verifier and passed for certification. The achievement rates for this qualification are outstanding.
