English Proficiency Test for Private Hire Drivers

EUAAB English Proficiency Test for Private Hire Drivers (CEFR) is a single unit qualification. Candidates are assessed in all four English language skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking. Candidates taking EUAAB English Proficiency Test for Private Hire Drivers (CEFR) will need to demonstrate the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in a day to day cabbing and focus on familiar and everyday situations and contexts.
Who accepts this qualification?
This is a capacity building initiative of EUAAB to ensure all the private hire drivers are having a baseline standard of English. This qualification is widely accepted by major Private Hire companies. If you are renewing or applying for your license then you can send you certificate, transcript and your centre letter as evidence of your level of English language proficiency.
Please note: You need to attain a minimum B1 Level before you submit your application to TfL or its approved service provider.

Training:
EUAAB English Proficiency Test for Private Hire Drivers (CEFR) mandatory training requires candidates to study and practice all four modules of the test. Current requirement is to have a minimum of 200 hours of Guided Learning Hours. A candidate may only book an exam once there is sufficient evidence that a learner has completed the mandatory training module*. Study Centres: Study centres are EUAAB approved centres. However, EUAAB does not accredit any B1 (CEFR) preparation courses, and cannot accept any responsibility for these organisations or their courses. Please ensure that you make your own enquiries about the quality and suitability of a course before committing yourself. Distancedirect™ is the only approved online provider of EUAAB English Proficiency Test for Private Hire Drivers (CEFR) mandatory training. Distancedirect™ has developed the 200 hours compulsary training module for this examination which includes mock tests. Take with you to the exam You must take proof of identity (ID) to the test centre. This includes but not limits to one of these: passport, biometric residency card or driving license.
